Default Brand spanking new and confused! HELP!

Okay...I know this is probably a very basic thing, but I could really use some help. I've looked through the tutorials and can't find the answer I'm looking for.

I'm in the process of starting an online store. My hosting is through JustHost and I've just downloaded ZenCart to use as my shopping cart (I used Fantastico). So far, I've been reading through all the tutorials and I think I'll be able to figure most of this out IF....

I can just find the files! Everything I read says to use my text editor to edit the files...usually something like includes/languages/english etc... Where are these files? Where is the text editor? Would this be on my ZenCart Admin Home page or through my JustHost Admin Home?

I would GREATLY appreciate some help. I'm LOST!

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need a FTP client installed on your PC and configured to connect to your host account...filezilla is a good free one

you also need a proper code editor and
    crimson editor
    notepad++

    are 2 free good ones

FTP file to your PC - open it in the code editor - make changes carefully and use the override system.....
FTP file back your host account BUT to you override folder that you must create

Thank you so much for your help!

I'm afraid I may be in over my head here because I'm still confused.

I have downloaded Filezilla...it's connected to my host site. I have notepad++ text editor on my computer.

But I still can't find my ZenCart files anywhere.

I understand what I need to do. I need to send the file to my PC using Filezilla and then open it using Notepad++ for editing and such.

I'm not sure what files or where they would be. Should I be able to access my ZenCart through my host server? How do I pull up those files using Filezilla?

Thank you SO MUCH for your help. I used to think I was pretty good with computers...until I tried to open my own site!

I'm going to suggest a few things.

    1) Download a copy of Zen Cart to your local computer and unzip it there. There's a link to the download on the Zen Cart home page (link at top of screen). You'll be able to see the folder/file structure that way. You can also use the local copy to make your changes and FTP them to your site.

    2) There's a ton of info in the Tutorials/FAQ and Wiki. Take a peek in there.

    3) BE PATIENT! There's a learning curve with Zen Cart and lots of people find themselves and because they expect to get everything done at once.

    4) Use the template/override system. You'll save yourself headaches later.

Thanks! I'm starting to figure it out. I found the files, was able to find them in filezilla and even able to edit in my text editor. Of course, it didn't show up on my site.

I'm going to try to figure out the template/override system next.

    *sigh*

I know I'll get it one of these days, but it's a bit harder than I expected.

Thanks again for all the help!!!

To get a jump start on customizing your site and learning how to construct your own template, check out the free templates available for Zen Cart by seeing them in action at http://(sorry, site offline)/
