Default PayPal API security info wrong- help

Using ZenCart 1.3.8. New to all this, and have gone nuts trying to find out how to get PayPal working correctly..... seems I don't know what to input in the Zen setup for the API security code. Went into PayPal Express, as directed. Says it needs a 56-character name for the API Signature..... I entered the https:....that I saw on PayPal. Was that incorrect?

Help! Need to test this out in the sandbox mode ASAP. Feel like I'm going in circles!

Follow these instructions to get your API Signature credentials for your live PayPal account: http://www.zen-cart.com/getpaypal

If you are a programmer/developer and know the ins and outs of PayPal's sandbox, you'll be able to adapt those instructions to work with the sandbox environment too. Otherwise, just use your live account, and refund the transactions if you don't want to be "out" any money.

Thanks. Finally got someone in PayPal to help find the info I needed... but it isn't working and i'm MORE than frustrated. I guess I'll have use "live"... problem is, we currently have a non-ZenCart store online, and didn't want to go live with ZC until all the glitches were worked out. Guess we'll just have to close the current store temporarily.

    Really frustrating.

P.S. Could this be why the customer login on the new ZC isn't working? Doesn't display the fields for a new customer to fill in his info... and you can't put any orders through at all.... ARGGH!!

Whatever you're describing doesn't sound normal, and doesn't sound like it's related to anything specific to PayPal either.
