Different Product Listings on Seperate Pages

I am trying to make my home page show Feature Products and another page not show Featured Product. When I update in Index Listing to just show this on my main home page, it shows on other pages too.

I know it's something I am not doing correctly...could someone please let me know what I need to do.

Also, how do I add a product to a certain catagory (Featured; Special; New) so it won't show up in all catagories?

A quick review of The Book tells me that Featured products can be turned on or off, but you can't (in the default Zen Cart) control on which pages they appear. But there's always a way.

You can create category-specific or page-specific stylesheets. (See the readme file in the css folder of your template.) So you could hide the DIV that contains the Featured products on certain pages by styling them as not visible.

Also, how do I add a product to a certain catagory (Featured; Special; New) so it won't show up in all catagories?

Featured, Special and New are not categories. You create products in other categories and then select certain products to become Featured or Special. A Special product will show in Specials, not in Featured -- and vice versa, of course. A product set as Special can also be Featured, but you have to do that deliberately. It won't happen by itself.

As for New, that's a function of a product being, er, um, new. That is, any product added recently -- which will be all of them in a new store -- will appear in the New box. You can control this to a certain extent by modifying the database to make ZC believe the product was added before the cutoff date. There are threads here that talk about that in more detail.
