red flag add-ons / mods conflicting

    Hi….

Does anyone know of any mods / add-on that are known to conflict?

At the moment I only have the following mods

    Alternative Header : Clyde Jones
    Blank Sidebox 2.0 : kuroi
    Admin Profiles (Patched) : kuroi
    Account Holders : schoolboy

So far all work fine and don’t conflict, but the mods I am thinking of adding further include

Dual Pricing : Madfastridse + kurio ‘hidden’ mod
    OR
Group Pricing (per Item) : Ray Sullivan + Fragner ‘Online’ mod
(Depending on what works best for me)

    Ask a Question : swguy
    SSU : Yellow1912 (c/w module manager)
    Cross Sell : Yellow1912

    Paypal
    Or
    Sagepay
(Depending what works best for me)

Of course I make notes before I add a mod, writing down the file structure and marking which files are NEW and which are OVERWRITTEN (so I can revert back if I mess up)

But I just wondered if anyone knew of any mods that conflicted… or need extra work to get going together… especially those listed above

(of course i know this problem will be virtually removed with 2.0 being modular.. but thats a long way off yet.. and many ppl here might find this thread helpful)

The dual and group pricing by item mods would clash, but you're not planning to install bother and otherwise you should be OK.

The better-constructed and documented mods usually list the files that they change (and generally try to keep them to a minimum), making it relatively straightforward to see if the same bits of code may be affected by two or more mods.

Zen Cart 1.3.8a already has a mechanism (observers/notifiers) that used skilfully can reduce significantly the risk of clashes, at least in store side of a Zen Cart. Unfortunately they're not used as much as they could be. However, if you see them in use in a mod, that's a good indicator of a well-constructed mod, by somebody who knows what they're doing, and implies a lower than average risk of clashes.

Sadly 2.0 can't eliminate the risk of clashes, even with all the new stuff. If two mods are installed that seek to change the same data, they could still clash even if the code is kept separate. There is no avoiding this (other than by judicious choice of mods - as you are planning with the discount and group pricing mods).

I think I have the same issue... I need to have the Tax Exempt module and the Dual pricing as we deal with a lot of government customers, does anyone know how I can have both of these at the same time?!?

I really need help on this issue, we are due to go live like now and we need to have the ability to have retailer taxable, retail non-taxable, wholesale taxable and wholsale non-taxable. The only way I know to do this is to have the dual pricing module and the tax exempt module, but they conflict. I have tried winmerge, but apparently I don't know how to use it properly or it doesnt work for this.
Please help me figure this out I am at a severe loss! Thank you!

is there not some customer setting somewhere that allows that customer to be void of paying tax?

    just thinking out loud...
Av been using ZC for almost a yr now and im still finding new things everyday!!!...

the only thing i can think of is setting up customer groups...

    ADMIN> CUSTOMERS> GROUP PRICING

setting a group for your governmental customers to have 15% discount... changing that to 17.5% when VAT returns to its old rate

(does any one know when VAT changes?)

NOT IDEAL.. but serves as a quick fix????....

(i was going to use either Dual Pricing : Madfastridse + kurio ‘hidden’ mod OR Group Pricing (per Item) : Ray Sullivan + Fragner ‘Online’ mod, but i decided i couldbt be arsed managing several pricelists... i have just assigned a customer a % discount rate that built into ZC... if the customer doesnt like it.. tough sh1t, I can't be all things to all customers)

That would possibly work, but I have a group set up for those already that need to have invoiced billing already, in other words, the military are set up with group pricing as invoiced, can they also be set up under another group pricing for this discount?
