Shipping box count

too many add ons to name

We have been battleing shipping rates from UPS / FedEx on our site and today i think i found the problem. We have always had box count / weight turned off. I turned them on and no matter how many products you add the the cart it always says 1 box.

I cannot find where to change this. Most of our items ship in individual boxes, so each item needs its own box.

Please help!

The Default Maximum Weight is: 50 ...

There are also the Tare Rates ... you might set those to 0:0 until you either have this working or decide if you need a Tare Weight for the box and packing materials ...

I think i may not have explained myself correct.

Lets say an item weighs 5 pounds. A customer purchases 3 of them. currently our shipping methods show it as shipping 1 box at 15 pounds. I would like to set it up as shipping 3 boxes at 5 pounds each.

Currently, the code is not designed to know how to break the boxes up other than based on the Maximum weight being the determining factor on the weight of "1 box" ...

Are all of your Products boxed individually?

the majority of our products are boxed individually. Occassionally we are able to package multiple items in one box. I would prefer it to always calculate 1 item per box.

I have seen other zen carts that say 6 x 20 pounds meaning 6 boxes at 20 pounds, if i'm not mistaken. Is this setup with the max weight you were mentioning? The only thing close to what you mentioned was this:

Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship

I have this set really high since we will use a freight company if it is over x ammount.

Bumping this to call attention to this issue. I've seen evidence that an option to enforce one item per shipment would be of great use to a number of people.
