Paypal confirm returns to step 2

Hello,

I keep getting this issue from customers

Either Paypal confirm returns back to Step 2 and completes the second time

or It's an endless loop from Paypal and Step 2

both are really upsetting customers, as they think they're getting double charged or getting charged multiple times.

This issue is costing me customers and sales!

I've searched here and seen the issue brought up multiple times, but no real solution

I suspect this problem could be more severe, as I keep getting new customers that don't make purchases and aren't reporting the issue.

I will be contacting Paypal, but I have a feeling that will be an endless loop in itself

I wouldn't call myself qualified to make a technical response but to stop the issue, but what I did was:

• Set PayPal Express Checkout to FALSE
• Set PayPal Website Payments Standard to TRUE

The looping stops when Express Checkout is disabled in my case. Customers still have the option of using PayPal and most probably don't know the difference between the 2 different options.

I ran into this problem where PP Express would take me back to the shopping cart and people would either be stuck in a loop or continue checkout and all would be well (but still confused).

I finally shut off AUTO RETURN and erased the URL in my PP account and the problem disappeared. I put it there originally because in the Standard Mod... it says to put a particular URL there to make it work.... but not for Express.

I don't think you should be running Express and Std IPN at the same time.

You use express BY ITSELF, or in CONJUNCTION WITH wpp.

... but not with Std IPN.
