Do I need to have both paypal standard and express checkout installed?

I thought I must had paypal standard installed to use paypal express checkout.
Am I right?

Another question:

I always receive 10417 alerts and some other alerts from paypal, which tells me there are people have trouble completing checkout with paypal express checkout option.

Before I used to suggest clients to try with paypal standard checkout when they encounter such problems.

Do you think it help or not by switching to standard checkout in these cases?
