red flag Concerned about Log Destination

I'm working through the upgrade instructions and was comparing all the various configurations when I came across this log destination for my 1.3.7 website:
    /var/log/www/zen/page_parse_time.log
I cannot even find these directories. What do I do?

When I compared it to the default in the 1.3.8 demo directory I'm creating to verify files and changes, I get the following:
    /home/[hosting account name]/public_html/demo_1.3.8/cache/page_parse_time.log
I can find these directories but the file doesn't exist.

Which should be the correct format for the new site? Can I change it for my current site? Could that be part of the reason I am not getting the feedback from PayPal registering in my admin area and the customers' accounts as well?

I am struggling with getting this upgrade done but need to keep my current site going until it's ready.

Not related to PayPal at all.
