    Default Sorting Option Values

    Howdy,

I'm building a store in which the only product attribute necessary is "Size". I've created an attribute named "Size" and have added a long list of all possible/potential sizes as values.

The idea being that when adding the Size attribute to a T-shirt for example, the values X-Small through X-Large can be chosen to display for that product. If adding a shoe for example, values 5, 5.5, etc. through 11 can be chosen. If European, then EU sizes are chosen. You get the idea. I should mention that I installed the add on for selecting multiple values at once.

I manually assigned sort order numbers to each of these values starting with 0 for "Please select a size" and going through 37.

The problem I'm having is that even though I hold down the Ctrl key and select each value in the order I want them to appear in the drop down list (on the product page), they in actuality appear randomly in the list.

Values in the Option Value drop down menu in the "Adding New Attributes" section found in Admin>Catalog>Attributes Controller are randomly listed as well.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Many thank yous in advance!

PS, I apologize for the duplicate post...I originally posted this in the wrong forum, sorry!

    HI there,

Where are you editing the sort order?

There is 2 places you can do this...

    IN the option Value manager

    OR

When you add attributes you can also put the sort order in there.

If you edit here you need to click on the update sort button which is offered in the attribute section after your sort number is saved.

The website I'm working on has shoe sizes.

I have edited the sort order of some at the option value editor end (Where you add the size value)

and some where you edit your attributes.

I found though that most of the time these sorted themselves aplhabetically. It was only when there was a half size that I may need to edit the sort order on the attributes themselves.

I would suggest editing the sort order in the option Value manager area when possible as then the sizing will work universally for that sizing.

If it is only the one product you want to edit the sort order then do it on the product itself.

Have a play with both and you will get it sorted.
    That wasn't the plan!

Wow, talk about a bonehead moment! I never even SAW that there was an Option SORTER! I was operating in the Option Value Manager. That did the trick. Thanks so much!
