Security Patch Questions

Its not clear to me about security patching, can someone please explain?
I only installed a few weeks ago and I have 1.3.8a Patch1. Can I assume it is right up to date as of now?
I looked in the patch forum and the fixes are older than that so I assume they have been included in the build that I am using.
At the top of my admin page it says Your version of zen cart appears up to date. If a vulnerability is discovered and a fix posted will that tell me?
I just want to be sure I stay right up to date

No it is not up to date apply all patches listed for your version here

I installed all the patches for my version, very straight forward I was expecting a battle. There are two /includes folders one in the root and one in admin (which I have renamed)
A couple of the patches didn't say admin/includes just /includes. The filenames suggested to me that they all should go in admin/includes as that is where the other patches went of a similar name. Was I right to do so?

Elaborate on which patch as you might have applied them to the wrong place????

I followed the instructions to the letter but assumed they went in admin/includes etc instead of root/includes etc

These are just /includes and not in the admin

Thanks kobra, ill redo those two. I assumed that if I downloaded ZenCart today it would include all the latest security additions. I wonder if others think the same.
