CSV Product Uploads

Sorry if this is a duplicate.....the search feature on this site doesn't seem to work for "csv".

I'm looking for a way to manage products and categories by csv uploads. It looks like the products table is what generates the product id but that table doesn't contain anything about the product that would enable me to easily identify the product. Once I create the product and get the id I then have to create a 2nd csv file to upload the descriptions. This process could work but its problematic because that means I have to go through and then try to match up all of the product ids with the products.

The bottom line is if I have a catalog of 1000 or even just 40 products it seems like I have to add these products through the product manager rather then set them up in one spread sheet and then just upload them. This is a major difference in time and time is money.....

Just seeing if anyone else has thought of this and/or if a solution already exists.
