shipping set up help?

im sorry but i have read the tutorials and i really cannot get my head aroung the shipping set up, i would appreciate it if someone could help me?

i need to set up table rates for shipping as follows

1-3 Cd's will cost £2.99
4-5 CD's £3.49
6-7 Cd's £4.99
anything over will have a flat postage fee of £6.99

but for one category i am selling tickets for workshops so i would need to offer free shipping in place of normal shipping

i really have no idea how to do this at all, i have set up a table rate of 3:2.99,5:3.49,7:4.99,20:6.50 and all of my items have a zero weight because i am using an item range instead of weight range. but now i need to set up free shipping for those items which require it and not the others, i have tried doing free shipping for anything over 100g, and set the items to 100g (just to be sure lol) but both options still show up?

any help please?

You could use the Always Free Shipping on the tickets and install the Free Shipping freeshipper module ... or set these as Virtual Products ...

Then, for the CDs you can use the Table Rate table shipping module based on Item ... setting the rates up as:

3:2.99, 5:3.49, 7:4.99, 1000:6.99

yes, i have the table rate set up and have installed the free shipping module, but on the checkout if i have a mixed basket of tickets and cds, only free shipping is offered?

Are your MP3s the physical CDs or Downloads?

If they are Downloads, make sure they are not marked as either Always Free Shipping or as Virtual Products ... this is determined by the Download filename on the Attribute ...

Check the setting in the Shipping/Packaging on 0 weight means Free Shipping and change that to false ...

I am assuming all of your Free Shipping is marked as Always Free Shipping ...
