Our live store runs on a PHP5 / MySQL5 web server (with Zen Cart 1.3.8a), and the new EP seems to work perfectly over there.

However, my localhost test server has the exact same Zen version + add-ons, the only difference is that it runs PHP4 + MySQL4.... and the new EP simply does not work at all.

Yes, I've fixed the infamous "Line 1222" / "Must be an array" warning, after searching the forum... this gets rid of the warning but nothing else works.

Specifically, this is what happens:
I'm trying to import a small csv file (only three columns - model, quantity and status).
On the live server, everything's successful, and I get the normal "UPDATE" messages, one for each line of the csv file.
On the test server, it says that the upload is complete - but the status messages do not appear. There's no other error or warning. When I check these products, their quantity/status hasn't changed.

Has anyone been able to get EP 1.2.5.5 to work 100% on PHP4/MySQL4?
I can't upgrade the software on the test server at the moment (since I have another couple of sites on it with older Zen versions which won't work with PHP5). So any help would be highly appreciated.
