shopping cart

I am building a new site and will not be selling any goods..it is an information site with a large data base of information.

Can I turn off the shopping cart and I wish to use manufactures and product and not the categories option is this possible.

All are possible within the admin panel. Takes 1 minute...

In Configuration>>>My Store>>>Store Status (choose "1")

In Tools>>>Layout Boxes Controller... Activate and deactivate sideboxes as necessary... For example, you could disable the Categories Sidebox, and enable the Manufacturers Sidebox, etc...
