Side Menu not showing up with "Red Passion" Template

Hello everyone,

My name is Max, I have been using OSCommerce for quite some time now, however, I felt it was time to switch. OSC was too clumsy and I heard a lot of great things about ZEN.

Installation and everything was a breeze! Thus far I am very happy with it. To get an idea of how Zen is structured I decided to start with changing over to a template. I chose Red Passion for this, as its structure is similar to the structure I would like to have.

I spent about an hour or so adding product categories. These categories show up just fine in the Standard Classic Green Zen template. However, when I switch templates the side menu disappears and there is just an empty space showing (as if the menu text is just missing, but the 'frame' exists).

I tried another template "Simple Zen" and have experienced the same issue.

I have searched the forums as well as a standard google search for the answer and found some promising threads, however, they proved to be disappointing. None of them solved my issue.

One person in a thread mentioned a file that comes standard with the Red passion zip file may be overriding the zen cart file. But that was as far as that comment went, no one mentioned which file it could be and what to do with it.

Any help of course would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, I do not have the FAQ module the person talks about on the second page, so I doubt that could be the issue.

After you changed templates, did you go into admin>tools>layout boxes controller and reset the side boxes?

Ahhh that was it! WOW that was incredibly simple. I love Zen Cart because of the great possibility for modification (vs OSC). But I just don't really understand the full potential of the options yet!

Time for more tinkering.
