Default Can 2 stores share one database

I want to setup (if possible) 2 stores sharing the same database is this possible. When a dealer goes to the "distribution.com" site he will see one shop and when joe public goes to the "direct.com" site he will see another, the pricing for both would be different but it would be good to share the same database which takes cares of stock levels. Any advice please.

Yes, 2 Zen Carts can share a database, but I'm not sure doing that will answer your question. Take a look at these mods:

You didn't mention the multisite mod... on purpose?

I didn't mention the multi-site mod because I thought the issue was more about having retail and wholesale pricing over having 2 sites.

no i definately need 2 sites its not just about different pricing but it needs to look like 2 seperate companies although they draw stock from the same pool

Sharing the database is easy. I'm not sure how you'd get the different pricing.

I am wanting to do the same thing but for a different reason. I want my main store and my test store to share the same database. It looks like this is possible but is it a bad practice?

Yes, because any change you make to your test store will effect your live store.

presumably zencart will allow different customers different pricing dependant on there login. i.e. a shop etc who wants to buy wholesale would apply to be recognised as such then issued by me a username and password or their profile ammended accordingly which would give them a lower pricing than joe public who can create his own login but would get full retail pricing.

thanks everyone so far for your help

Hi I am also looking for a similar type of product however I current run a multi-site zencart with 9 separate business's using the same database, my issue is that I want the individual multi-sites to get paid for the product and NOT come through to the main account. How would I go about doing this please.
