Setting discounts to work with all products

I have now set up discounts for each product in my shop, but it is only working if you purchase a multiple of the same item, can i set it up to offer the discount across the whole site, eg i am selling dvd's with a discount increment 2 = £10 3= £27 etc but i would need each product to acumilate the discount as added to the cart, would be grateful for your help. Thank you

As I said in the previous post there is a good mod called 'Quantity Discounts' that will let you do just that.

Hi Nick many thanks again can i just confirm something with you before placing includes folder to root directory, there is already a folder called includes in the root directory will this not overwrite that folder in total or will it just make the relevant changes, many thanks again.

Are you using an ftp program to upload the files to the server?

Most (probably all) ftp programs will effectively merge the two includes folders. In other words they will add the new files to the existing folder.

So, that's the simple part of the answer. However, if the new files contain a file that already exists in the installation, then the ftp program will overwrite the existing file (usually with a warning). If you have not made any changes to the file that is being overwriten then that is not a problem. I suspect that if this is your first add-on then you don't have that problem. As you go on and install more add-ons you just need to check that the new add-on is not altering a file that has previously been edited by yourself or by a previous add-on.

On a slightly different note it is worth understanding the override system that Zen Cart uses. I am sure there is a tutorial about it or search this forum for more information.

And remember - if you have a back up of the installation before you install the add-on then you can always just revert to the back up! BACKING UP IS GOOD and will save you some tears.

Thats excellent it all seems to be working fine now, i have completed the discounts for the 5 discount options i need 8 so i will tweak that now, another problem i have if i can ask another question is i offer free shipping to the UK but charge for countries outside the UK at a standard rate for worldwide is this possible to do. Donation pending lol....

In general I would suggest that you make a new post when the topic changes! It just makes it easier for others to find the answers that they need and opens the new post to others more completely so you get better advice!

With shipping - in principle the way to do it is use the facility that the modules have to set a shipping zone for each module. So, you can set the shipping zone for free shipping just to the UK. Then use the flat rate ( or perhaps the per item ) module to cover everywhere else.
