When someone wants to buy an item off the cart, it then takes them in to a details page, can the details page information be changed?

Some of the customer fields can be turned off/on and their minimum field lengths set. You can find these settings under:

• Configuration > Customer Details
• Configuration > Minimum Values

You can either do some custom coding or try the Additional Customer Fields mod to see if it fits your needs.

Personally, I've not used the mod so I can't comment further.

Btw, do remember to back up your store's data and always do your tests on a 'test' store and not on your 'live' store.
