Gift Certificate Error in admin

I've been trying to mail a gift certificate within the admin, but all that comes up is a blank page. Usually, when I try to do this, the page takes several minutes to load. Once it's done, however, I can email the gift certificate with no problem. The last time I did this was several months ago. However, I haven;'t made any major changes to the site since then. I am using 1.3.8a and I've tried accessing this page on Firefox 3.3, 3.5, and IE7. But the same problem occurs on all browsers. After several minutes, all I get is a blank page with the title on top. What's going on?

Almost 12,000 customers.

Picture an HTML file with 12000 lines that has to download to your computer ... before you can begin to see any of it ...

Not a happenin' thang ...

You could comment out the dropdown on the file so you don't have to draw the 12000+ lines and it would work for you ...

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I'll give that a whirl and see what happens. Still, it's a bit weird how this area of the admin was designed and works... I mean, you're basically saying that, the way it is now, you shouldn't have more than a few hundred customers or things will not work in the admin.

It is a feature that works for some shops and others it is too much for the feature to have a dropdown ...

What needs to be there is a nice switch to turn that dropdown off without touching the code ...

For now, it is a customization that you have to do yourself as some servers and connections can manage a dropdown of that size and others cannot ...

Note: be sure to comment out the call to the list as well as the pull down ...
