why the hell are people still supporting phpbb 2?

i know that those posts are old, but i mean why is zencart still written to fit with phpbb 2 and NOT 3 out of the box? phpbb3 has been out long enough...

    Just seems strange to me

Not to worry. It won't have phpBB integration at all in the next release, so you won't have to worry about it!

No, the code to integrate has to be too intrusive and requires way too much support time to justify writing code for it. And nobody ever says thanks ... they just whine when nobody jumps to their beck and call when they screw something up by not following posted instructions.
Plus, phpBB has been so full of security holes it's been more of a liability than a benefit.

    Sorry, but you asked.

I've not used the recent versions of phpBB 3, so can't speak for them. v2 was full of holes. Early v3 versions had problems.
    Google for it.
And check *their* site for issues. This site is for Zen Cart, not phpBB. ;)
