    Default Attribute Image problems

Hi I am using zen cart 1.3.8a
I am using a custom Template, but it is very standard.

I have several Sack Choices such as:
    Red Dot
    Blue Dot
    Trucks and Cars

I want each of these attributes to have a corressponding image so that customers can choose which sack design they want.

When I go to the first product and try to add the image file using the Attribute Controller I get the error message:
    "Error: Destination not writable /home/kiddywin/public_html/shop/images/attributes"

I cannot see any reason why this should not be writable; also why not add an image via the Attributes controller for the attribute values that you want to have images - it seems mad to have to do this via the categories/Products route?

This means that the CHMOD on the server for that directory is not writeable. you must CHMOD the folder to 777.

I have no idea how categories/products comes into this...

    But...

The images / swatches that are associated with an attribute VALUE, must be product specific.

I have an Option NAME: Colour
I have an Option VALUE: Green (amongst other colours)

However, the shade of GREEN for product "A" is different from the shade of GREEN for product "B" - so I need different swatches for that Option Value - - - depending on what PRODUCT I associate the Option Value (green) with.

If your option NAMES and VALUES (and associated swatches) are COMMON across several products/categories - then use the COPY function...

    Hi Guys

I have used CHMOD to set the attributes folder security; but now I get an error message that says:
"Duplicate Attribute - Attribute was not added - Sack Choice : Trucks and Cars"

Well I thought I was just attaching an image to the already existing attribute - this is a really confusing part of the system!!

You don't attach the image to the attribute... You ASSOCIATE it with an Option Value for a Specific Product.

The STAGES of the attributes process are:

    1. Create Option NAMES (eg: Option Name = "Colour")

2 .Create Option VALUES associated with those Option NAMES (eg: Option Values = "Red, Green, Blue"

    So, let's say you have a product "T-Shirt 1".

It comes in RED, GREEN and BLUE.

Call up attributes controller (for product "T-Shirt 1")

    1.
Select (in Left Drop-down) Option Name: Colour
Select (in Right Drop-down) Red (Colour)
    Click Insert

    2.
Select (in Left Drop-down) Option Name: Colour
Select (in Right Drop-down) Green (Colour)
    Click Insert

    3.
Select (in Left Drop-down) Option Name: Colour
Select (in Right Drop-down) Blue (Colour)
    Click Insert

Product "T-Shirt 1" now has Colour "Option Name"
with Three Colour "Option Values" --- Red, Green and Blue

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

When you are adding the Option Values to the product, there is the facility to add a colour swatch / image FOR THAT PRODUCT, for each Option Value you choose.

So, let's look at Number 1 above...

    1.
Select (in Left Drop-down) Option Name: Colour
Select (in Right Drop-down) Red (Colour)
(SCROLL DOWN TO: Attributes Image Swatch:)
    Browse for appropriate image swatch
    Click Insert

If you omit to associate the image swatch, you can EDIT the Option Value to do this.
