Require a radio button choice

I have a few products, which I'm using radio buttons to make a choice between two different colors.

I need to know how to set up the buttons, so that it is required that the customer picks a color before adding to cart. Right now, you can just hit to add to cart button, which by-passes the color choice altogether.

So could anyone tell me how to set these button attributes, so that if a customer does hits the add to cart button, it warns them that they have to make a color choice first.
