Default Customers paying with Credit Card through Paypal

When a customer pays with a credit card through paypal how long should it take? I've got an order placed yesterday and it's not showing in my paypal account but it's in pending status in the Orders section of the Admin. I just want to make sure it goes through. Thanks.

Sounds like your customer actually paid using the "Offline Credit Card" module, and not with PayPal at all.
If you don't have a credit card merchant account with your bank, you'll need to "Remove" that offline module because you can't use it. Any transactions made using that module WILL NEVER CHARGE A CARD.

Or, if your customer *did* pay with PayPal, then perhaps you've configured your PayPal settings in your store incorrectly, perhaps sending the money to a completely different email address.
Have YOU actually done a *real* PayPal transaction on your store and seen the money go through? If not, then you owe it to yourself to actually test your store completely before opening to customers.

Hey thanks, DrByte. You're right about the Offline mode.

I thought I could still process credit cards through Paypal without a customer needing a Paypal account. If this is possible, does anyone know how to do it. I've followed this guide to no avail. Although, maybe it's not working because I still have the Credit Card - Offline Processing module installed? Would I just need to remove that to make it work?

    Thanks.

    1. Since you don't have a gateway to process cards yourself, REMOVE the Offline card module.

    2. Customers paying via PayPal will be given the option to use their Credit Card if they wish. PayPal takes care of that automatically while the customer is online. It does not require them to use PayPal funds ... they can use their CC, their bank account, or a paypal balance if they have one.

    3. As for the order you received using the offline module, you'll have to call the customer and make arrangements to get payment from them.

I actually do have a way to process the credit cards offline but would prefer to have it work online. I tried just removing the Offline module but then there's only the option of paying with Paypal. The only shipping module I have installed is the Paypal IPN. How do I get it to show the customer they also have the option of using a credit card (even if it still goes through paypal)? Thanks.

I would suggest Paypal Express rather than Standard, but both will allow your customers to use credit cards when they are sent to the Paypal site.

I believe that with some versions of PayPal Standard, PayPal forces the customer to sign up for Paypal with their credit card or bank account during the checkout process. Thus the sale always comes through as PayPal to the the merchant. And, the customer does get to use his/her credit card. maybe this is happening? If you didn't fill out a merchant application, then it is likely. You probably need PayPal Pro

In some countries in the eastern hemisphere, yes.
But that's irrelevant in this discussion.

Um, no, the sale always comes through with the customer's info, not merely "PayPal".
    Again, irrelevant in this discussion.

Not necessarily. This discussion already confirmed that Pro is not needed, as this merchant already has a merchant account.
So, again, your post appears to be irrelevant to this discussion.
