How to customize my own template?

Hi all,
Am newbie for zen-cart. I have installed zen-cart in my system version of 1.3.8a . After installation its working fine. based on my requirement i have added one custom template by following this link instructions

-----i could create custom template. but i want to use my own css and other files in the new custom template. After surfing on net i got something related to this. but i can't able to get.

could you please help for me..

Using your own template will by its very nature allow you to use your own CSS, you can modify it to suit your needs.

When you mention 'other files' what exactly are you referring to? I'm not from a computer/web development background and have found by my own experience and that of many more experienced users that Zen is a pretty open book to do what you want.

The overrides/ design of your own template is a very logical and simple system, once you get to grips with it.

Oh and if your just looking for different designs, you might want to find one of these templates that meets your needs and modify it. Its what a lot of Zen cart users do!

These templates are free, and most have a support thread in the addon templates section of the forum...

I want to edit tpl_main_page.php. but i don't know how to edit this page. but i know this page is the entire controller of the site. in this page i want to add my template page. please see the attachments. the listing page is the main page. i don't know how to add it in tpl_main_page.php file.

I cant see any attachments. But, are you saying you have a web page/structure you have already written and you want to 'paste it' into the Zen homepage?

When you say 'template page' if you want to just modify the original zen file you need to this file into 'Your Custom Template' using the overrides function.

It might just be me being an idiot tonight, (it happens ALOT) but I dont quite understand what your trying to achieve.

Actually we have designed html template. I need to use that html template as a my zen cart template. so please help me to use my html template as a zen cart template. I don't know where to put css files also where i need to put my template file. so please help me...

Zencart doesn't work that way. You can't just slap an HTML design onto Zencart. Zencart is styled by editing various files, including the CSS file(s).
