Default Problems with the HTML Editor

    Hi everyone,

I have searched high and low for an answer to my question but am having no luck. If anyone out there could help me I would be so thankful!

Anyway, I am using the latest version of Zen Cart. About a week ago I finished customizing my clients store perfectly to how I wanted it. A couple days ago I followed the security steps in the Wiki here: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p...ecommendations. Last evening I was working on writing a "how to" guide for my client and noticed that when adding a product (or even editing text for that matter) the HTML Area tools are completely gone! I know how to write HTML and that's fine, however my client does not and I know they will need the editor.

So I went back and re-set my configure files and images folders that I had originally set to "Read Only" after I was finished customizing everything. I'm not sure if it has to do with the fact I renamed my admin access to something other than "admin" - one thing in the Wiki that I did NOT revert back to. However, that produced no changes. I also tried installing the "TinyMCE" editor and while I am able to get it to show up in the dropdown list it doesn't work either. I have checked all of the admin settings and have them set to "HTML Area." Like I said, I had it working just fine before when I installed the software and finished my store.

I am using the latest version of Firefox on a new Mac laptop.

    Does anyone have any insights?

    Thanks in advance!

    J

Have you tried it in Safari? There seem to be issues with HTMLArea in Firefox.

    There's this, too:

Thank you for the reply, stevesh, I really appreciate it!

I checked it out in Safari and the same thing -- nothing shows up. Like I said before it was working perfectly fine for me in Firefox. It's as though something isn't pointing in the right direction but I have no idea what it could be.

    Any other ideas?

    Cryptic,

Just throwing this out there... I had the same exact problem with htmlArea editor not appearing and it was after I installed Adblock Plus in Firefox. I had to set it to "Disable on mydomain" in order for the HTMLArea to re-appear. I suspect other ad block plugins could cause this behavior on other browsers.

Thanks for the idea, Crunch. I have not installed any ad blockers or additional plug-ins in Firefox. Like I said it was working perfectly fine for me a little over a week ago. I have not made any changes to any settings in my browser either. I'm at such a loss with this one - it's so frustrating
