    Default Virtual Categories

Is there any way to add a virtual category?

If I have two categories - widgets & gadgets and I want to have a category that contains some widgets and some gadgets - call it gizmos.

I can create the category and then copy the products from widgets and gadgets into gizmos.

My problem is that I am using SEO URL and the pages would therefore show up as duplicate

    www.mysite.com/widgets/product1

would contain the same info as

    www.mysite.com/gizmos/product1

I would therefore get penalised by google for having duplicate content within my site and link equity will be halved if people point to different pages.

Is there any way I can set up a virtual category called gizmos, but the links within that category point to the product info from the original product?

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hi

You can use link products to display same product in more than one category.

Please try. If you still have doubts, I will help

    Thanks

By the way, the fact that you have a URL rewrite mod has nothing to do with the perceived problem. You will have two paths to essentially the same page no matter how you show the URL.

Thanks very much for your help on this. I am having some trouble here.

    My site is www.xcourse.co.uk

I believe I have linked an MS Access Course which resides in MS Office category into the Database subcategory

The course is available to view at

    http://www.xcourse.co.uk/ms-office-a...s-2000-mos-p-8

    and

    http://www.xcourse.co.uk/it-amp-tech...s-2000-mos-p-8

Surely this will be seen as duplicate content by google?

    Mike
