    help question Master Password

    The Master Password which I have set up on the "Configuration / My Store" page has stopped functioning. When I use the Master Password now, I receive an error message saying "Error: Sorry, there is no match for that email address and/or password."

    I've used this function many times in the past but have not used it for several months now, so I'm not really sure when it stopped working correctly. I did retype and save the password again in the My Store page, but that didn't help.

    I'm using Zen Cart version 1.3.8a

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Most helpful Haredo - Thank you. I have downloaded the password_func.PHP file.

    The individual who created my web site for me is too busy to assist in helping me with this. Although I have learned some simple HTML codes and can make some simple changes on my site, I am not an HTML or PHP expert by any means.

    I've found that I can edit the PHP file using Notepad - that isn't an issue But would you be able to assist me one more time please.

    In looking at this file, I see there is a section "This function validates a plain text password with an encrpyted password" and another section "This function makes a new password from a plaintext password". I have no idea if my Master Password was previously encripted or not. On the "Configuration / My Store" page, it was shown in plain English - that I do know.

    If my master password was going to be "elephant" for example, and if I was to take a guess, I would think that I should use the "This function makes a new password from a plaintext password" and enter my password on the line that reads:
    $password = '';
    and that my master password would placed between the two single quotes as folows:
    $password = 'elephant';

    Is my thinking above all correct and would that be the only thing I would need to change??

    Thanks in advance for your help - it is greatly appreciated.

    help question Re: Master Password

    Well, the downloaded copy of the password_func.php didn't seem to work, at least based upon what I have tried doing. Since I had not heard back from anyone concerning my last post, I tried a couple of things.

    First I made backups of my store. Then I:

    1 - loaded the new password_func.php onto my site
    2 - tried logging into a customers account using the master password.
    3 - I received the same error message as described in my previous post.
    4 - I changed my master password via the "configuration / my store" page and tried logging into a customers account
    5 - I received the same error message as described in my previous post.

    6 - I edited the actual password_func.php file and added in the master password as described in my last post.
    7 - retried step #2 but received the same error message.
    8 - retried step #4 but received the same error message.

    I have gone back through the posts referred in Haredo post to me and can't seem to find anything that indicates something that I'm not doing.

    Is there something else I need to do that I have missed? Any thought or suggestions would be appreciated.

    By the way, I have since deleted the password_func.php file that I edited and replaced it with a clean copy of the one I downloaded. So that is where I currently stand - a clean downloaded copy of the password_func.php file on my website and my master password still not working.

    Thanks in advance.

    Have you tried logging in with a test account, or creating a new account to test login? It may not be the MP mod at all.

    Hi Stevesh - thanks for your reply.

    Since reading your reply, I created a test account to play with.

    After the test account was created, I completely logged out of the web site. I got back into the store and tried logging into the test account using the test password I had created. All was successful and I repeated this a couple of times.

    I backed out completely from the web site and then went back in. I tried logging into the test account using the Master Password. I received the same error I've been receiving all along - - -"Error: Sorry, there is no match for that email address and/or password."

    After backing out completely from the site and then going back in, I was still able to log into the test account using the test password.

    I've since tried logging off and then back into system again numerous times. Any time I attempt to open the test account with the test password, it works fine however, I'm unable to access the test account using the Master Password.

    So I'm still back to square #1

    Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
