    Default Email blacklist problem

    Hi there.

    My Problem:
A while ago a different account got hacked on the same serer as us and uder this account thousands of spam emails was sent out. This issue has now been solve but the server ip is on temperery spamming black list and companys like gmail / yahoo / hotmail / live use these lists to test for spamming server thus block the incomming emails.

My solution was to switch my setting in zen cart email setting to use authSMTP and use a different smtp server (GMX) for outgoing email.

This works great using an account from GMX mail BUT when the user receives the email the return address is the GMX address and not our normal email address.

I thought that by setting the Email Address (sent FROM)
setting in the zencart email setting this would change the reply address. But when sending an email from the website ie updating an order I get this error if the (GMX) email address is not in this field.

I get this error ERROR: Failed sending email to: "colin smith" with subject: "Order Update #1083" The following From address failed: [email protected]

I have just put a 1 on the end of the address to demonstrate this. If i take the 1 out it works fine ??

    Anyway to override this ??

    Thanks

No GMX checks for the return address values and does not allow a different address as their own.

Try to use a gmail account to send your emails, you may have more luck with them. I think tried this before.

It says that you need a secure (ssl) connection to authenticate. I think they must have changed this recently. I dont know if Zencart support smtpauth with a secure connection. I havent found a setting in the Email options. But i saw this thread Its a bit too long for me now :) Have a look yourself, maybe it can solve your problems.

Have you tried both ports offered by gmail

    smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
    Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
    Port: 465 or 587
