They suggested I use THEIR installation instead of doing it myself. So today, I did that (3rd store, really a product stock clone of the 2nd which I'm gonna have to rebuild). I've got the footer showing parse time etc. turned on. I'm amazed at how fast it works! No problems with a bit over 1k products, Easy Populate imports segmented files (250 lines each) with no problems, and no server error resultant pages (my 1st store always gets that error). To me, that's just amazing as it's not what I'm used to using GoDaddy. Fast as I can click, it displays almost as fast. 1,688 queries in 1.35 seconds.

Not sure why THEIR install should seem to work much faster than my own install, but I've a theory that shared hosting is prioritized and during the install by GoDaddy they up the internal networking priority level and MySQL works like it should. So far, seems to be the case.

Lots of work to do to the appearance, and I didn't follow the all important template override rules (I'll get to that later) but I'll be ready and advertising before Black Friday.

My suggestion is do not install ZC yourself if it's hosted on GoDaddy. Let them install it, then just make it look the way you want and stock it. Made a large difference for me. Don't forget the login is Admin and pw is admin right after the install (change it).

Are you paying your own server or are you just sharing one? I am not understanding why using GoDaddys upload for Zen works really well for some and doesn't work well at all for others.
