Meta Tags for Main Pages

How do i add keyword, title and description meta tags for main pages (not categories/product pages). I read the FAQ... this is what it says:

To define site-wide tags such as charset, keywords and description, go to includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME/meta_tags.php and edit that file for keywords, site title, site tagline and site description.

*NOTE:*## The references to "YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME" mean that you should use the name of the folder of your custom template that you've built for your site.

I tried everything w/ no luck. I don't really understand this. Can anyone help me?

OK- how do i open /includes/language/english/meta_tags.php??? does this tack on to my URL?? new to web world... not sure what that means?

First things first I advice:

if you understand the override system, you will know how to access and change files properly.

To change files, use a FTP program (e.g. FileZilla) or a PHP IDE like UltraEdit with build in ftp functionality.
