    sorted it myself.

the ozpost module only adds itself to "product.php" classes, whereas my shop uses the "product_photo" class, and thus it wasn't showing. i had to overwrite those classes manually with the ozpost files.

not sure if that'll do any other damage.... are the files different?

hmmm, that didn't actually fix it. must be something else needed.
the fields appear now in the product_photo listing, but they don't get saved.

    any ideas?

If this offer is open in a few months time (which is how long it is going to take for the figures to stabilise enough to determine whether it is worth the time/effort put into it) then I'll gladly accept your offer, as long as you can confirm the MySQL server can be configured for replication. (most host don't allow this). If unsure, what I'll need is access to the mysql config file.

Please, it is more than just the server running costs.... it is the entire kit and caboodle. The client and server code didn't write itself overnight, and future updates aren't going to take zero time either. time is my biggest enemy, money is a very close second. I have been giving both away (to zencart users) for the last 4 years or so... in order to devote more time, I need more money, which means my time will need to go to the where the money is... if I can get the money to remain where I spend my time (namely, zencart/ozpost) then it is a win/win for everyone..

I'm not even hoping/expecting for a 'full time wage' out of this - The best I am hoping for is the equivilent of 15hrs paid work per week (I typically spend 50-60hrs on support/research/coding, most of which is ozpost related. The reason this has been set as the target is because of my age (55) and centerlink rules. A 'full time' position means no time for support, and even less for development. A part time position for a 55y/o has a lot less requirements and obligations (by Centerlink) than a younger person working part time, which basically means as long as I can achieve the 15hrs per week 'requirement' I'll be able to continue to work on it fulltime, which is what it needs, and is what most users have come to expect.

You may well ask why don't I get a 'paid' part time job to meet the requirements, and I'll still have many hours left spare to work on the ozpost project. While this is true I then need to ask myself 'why'? If I'm spending all this time and effort to help other people make sales and they aren't willing to even pay enough for a cup of coffee a week, then it is probably a lost cause or waste of time anyway - certainly a slap in the face.

I really am quite at ease no matter which way this all eventually falls (but I'd be feeling a lot more guilty if had to pull the plug completly, than I would by asking for help/support.). In my mind it is the lesser of the two evils.

You could also just add the lines to the excisting file, the way i did it was searching the new products file and finding out what is new and adding it to the other product file.

    try searching for things like;

    product_length
    product_height
    product_width

    ect.

I'm unsure what the difference is between the product_photo and the product.php, but I would assume they are not the same and it best to not interchange them.

Anyway, as to your problem, you are certainly on the right track with what you are doing to get the dimensional data working, but there are in fact THREE files that need to be modified in the /admin/ folders.

One file is responsible for the inputting of the data, another for the 'preview' screen, and the final one being to update the database.

It appears you have only found/modified one of them.

If you want/need a little more detail, I suggest you take a look at the 'patching.txt' file. With the information gain from this file you should be able to adapt the module to work with any type of product.

    Cheers

    You said before

So, exactly what is going to happen when you get burned out from supporting my rehashed code? Are zencart users going to be left in the cold again waiting for someone else to pick up when you've given up?
That is the best thing about open source coding, i am sure there is someone else wanting to help others out by fixing the coding, however that said i have a invested interest in making sure the mod keeps working, i have 2 shops that are running this mod, without it i dont do orders...

What if I decided to close ozpost.net NOW! (I'm still able to refund every cent paid, so it is possible).... Do you think those supporters are going to see you as a 'hero' for crippling their stores because my old code no longer supports thier needs? No, They'll probably want to lynch you.
Who said i want you to shut down your site, i am just annoyed that this mod stopped working without any notice, makes you wonder how many others have downloaded, installed and dont follow the forums. Hell even with me following the forums i still lost 2 days of business + $150 dollars in advertising because the mod stop working.

I have gone over this many times. I'm not going to repeat it all again.

About 20 .... Well, that is how many there are/were that were still using a version older than 2.0.9 when the trial period expired. The remaining few hundred had already upgraded long before the expiry date, and as such were not caught unaware.

I admit, that even this 5-10% of users is still a little high for my liking, but half of those are still using V1.0.2 which hasn't been able to provide accurate quotes for almost 2 years, and that is Way too long for a *responsible* merchant to leave a store unchecked. Who knows what else may be amiss?

Also, due to inadequate testing (I guess), some versions of ozpost/austpost didn't 'fail' in the way that was intended/programmed. Thankfully, most DID fail in the way it was supposed to (namely, to revert to giving static quotes rather than no quote at all, or worse, a blank page).

I can only offer my profuse apologies for this. It was NOT intended to fail in any way that would cause a non functioning store.

Also, since becoming aware that a couple of people felt they were being 'held to ransom' I have added another subscription option that will extend the useful period of the module(s) for another week (or more) at no cost and with no obligation. I have also given a full refund to several people that only subscribed for a month. I have done this under the assumption that they only subscribed to allow them long enough to find alternate methods.

Seriously, it is not, and never has been my intention to cause anyone any hardship or difficulties, but at the same time, there really is only so much I can do to prevent it...... change always causes a few hiccups.

You can get any suuport you need either by asking in this forum, or emailing me directly.

We have no way of contacting unregistered users. Announcements were made several months ago in this forum.

That fact that we are/were unable to contact users to notify them of upgrades, bugs, etc is one of the reasons we moved over to a subscription system. There has been numerous occasions in the past where people have 'complained' (and even abused) me because I didn't contact them about important upgrades. I don't mind being abused if I'm getting paid for it, but it is bloody frustrating to work for free and still be abused for it.

Thanks heaps for your support .. it has gone a long way to ensuring that ozpost.net will survive long into the future (well, at least another 3 years).
I doubt anyone will truely appreciate how close it came to simply pulling the plug and walking away from it all a few months back. Thanks to your support, and that of many others, I now know that my efforts really are worthwhile and appreciated after all.

    Thanks again.
