Head throbbing from data import problems

I'm running the latest version 1.3.8.1.sp1 that I just installed. Clean and fresh only change is that I renamed the admin folder.2

I've read all the faq's and searched through all the threads I could find relating to this issue. Still not able to get it to work properly.

Heres the deal I have another zen cart store that I'm attempting to import the categories and products from (also 1.3.8.1.sp1). I go into store 1 phpmyadmin and clicked on export tab> I then highlighted all of the tables relating to products and categories. I then check the add drop tables box and export the file as a sql file.

Next I go into store 2 phpmyadmin and click on import tab, select the exported sql file and initiate the import. It says "Import has been successfully finished, 51 queries executed." When I go to the admin of store 2 nadda. Nothing there no categories nothing. I've tried to export and import via a csv file, still no luck I get syntax errors on line 76.

I noticed that in the first store there are 95 tables in the db but in the new installation there is only 94. Also I had to reinstall store 2 because at the first attempt I noticed that store 2 tables (and it originally had 95 also) had the zen_ prefix where as store 1 didn't. Once I reinstalled zen-cart fresh (cleared all dbs and additonal files) on store 2 it only had 94 tables and the zen_ prefix was gone which allowed me to now import the tables and replace the existing ones where as the first time I tried to import it just added the tables in addition to the zen_ tables that were already there.

So sorry for the long post but I wanted to get all the info there and hopefully it makes sense. I really appreciate the help this forum has provided in the past Ajeh, and Kobra have patiently been helping me for years and so once again I stand here humbly asking for your help. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like maybe you missed one or more tables in the mix.

The database on my new store has a zen_ prefix added on all of the tables. The store I'm trying to export the products and categories doesn't. (example "zen_categories_description" versus "categories_description") is there anyway I can add that prefix to all of the tables or is there another way to go about importing all of the products and categories?

There are various options.

a) You could see whether the EasyPopulate addon will work for your needs. Some folks like it. It doesn't care about the table prefixes.

b) If your "other" store is no longer "live", then you could rename the desired tables before exporting them.

c) You could export them with the prefix name, and then import them to your new server. Then rename them after importing.

This of course assumes you're using the SAME version of Zen Cart on both sites.

EasyPopulate was the ticket for me. I think I could have done the third option as well though ep was probably faster. I really appreciate your assistance!
