Shipping Estimator still showing states not shipping to

I ship only to the 48 states and not to Hawaii and Alaska, yet when I do the shipping calculator for Hawaii, it still calculates a shipping charge. Isn't it supposed to say something like "We don't ship to this area" if I don't have a zone set up for that state?

Can anyone help?

This would depend on if you have setup your Zone definition correctly and if you have applied it to your shipping module(s) ...

What shipping module(s) are you using?

Do you have a Zone definition built for the 48 States plus DC? Have you applied it to your shipping module(s)?

I think I've followed the directions thoroughly in setting up zones and shipping as well. I used an sql install I found online that supposedly set up my shipping for 48 states and eliminated Hawaii and Alaska. Does that even sound possible? Will I need to set up individual zones and shipping for each of the 48 states?

Look at your Zone definitions ... does one include the 48 states plus DC>

If so, go to your shipping module and set that zone on it ...
