Need shipping module to limit shipping options based on category or product

Preferably products would go something like this:

1+ x Reg Prod = USPS, UPS (customer's choice - many may fit in a single package - light weight packages would go USPS Priority while heavier packages would go UPS Ground)

1 x Kit = UPS, USPS (customer's choice - but domestic shipping would preferably be UPS Ground, international is difficult because of the dims tho)

1 x Kit, 1 x Reg Prod = UPS, USPS (customer's choice - but domestic shipping would preferably be UPS Ground, international - again - is difficult because of dims - Reg Prod can fit in with Kit)

2 x Kits, 1 x Reg Prod = UPS, USPS (same as above - except each Kit has its own box and Reg Prod may go in with one of the Kits)

1 x Bucket, 1 x Kit = UPS, USPS (customer's choice - same as above - except Bucket and Kit cannot ship in a box together)

Reg Prods may ship, depending on what they are, weight, etc with the Bucket, Kits, or each other.

Are you really trying to get the UPS or USPS to know when to calculate the charges per Product rather than just by the weight for these Products?

We want the items to calculate by weight. However, three of the products cannot ship in a box together due to dimensional difficulties.

One of the three items (the bucket) may still be shipped by weight, but the other two items (the kits) get dimensionally weighted by UPS and USPS Priority Mail Domestic. And then, internationally, some countries cannot accept this the kit boxes because they are too large and we find alternate roots for the customer at that time.

I'm having another idea... How can I make it so that the Kit items cannot be shipped via USPS through the shopping cart? They are in a category on their own, and everything else should have the USPS option.

What happens on a mixed cart? Does that mean still No USPS?

Well, at the moment, it could be unavailable - and we could just put a note on there that customers wishing to ship to Hawaii, Alaska, or Internationally should call for a quote. Which, we have a note like that anyway...

So, yes - at the moment it would be fine if the two kits never were able to go USPS.

You can test if the cart contains products with something like:
$_SESSION['cart']->in_cart_check('products_id','XX')

where the products_id is XX ...

You can then compare the total count with:
$_SESSION['cart']->count_contents()

to see if the whole cart is just these two products ...

This would allow you to control the $this->enabled in the shipping modules to turn them off if needed ...
