    Default gv email sending

    I can't find my prior thread but now that I can fix the wording to my liking in the gv notification email we send out....there is this little bit of coding that seems to be peeking out, I have looked in the admin and plain includes files for it but have not found out where it is hiding.

    The Gift Certificate is worth $5.00
    $GV_AMOUNT

    where do I get rid of that part

    thanks in advance

    Just remove it in the email templates located in /email/email_template_gv_mail.html

    If you wanna edit the text, it is located in /admin/includes/languages/english/email_extras.php

    Hope that is what you are looking for.

    ok, I removed that code from the file you mentioned and then sent out a test gv email...this is the copy of the email that the store sent to me:
    ==============
    dear Mary,

    Checking to see if the code is gone

    Congratulations, here is a Gift Certificate just for you.

    By clicking on the redeem link below will take you to the store's Redeem Gift Certificate page. You will then be requested to create an account, before the Gift Certificate is validated and placed in your Account ready for you to spend it on whatever you want. You may also pass this on to a friend, if you wish.

    How to use your gift voucher:

    During the checkout process, on the same page that you select a payment method there will be a box to enter a Redemption Code. Enter the Redemption Code here, and click the Redeem button. The code will be validated and the amount added to your Gift Certificate Account. You can then use the amount to purchase any item from our store.

    If you already have an account and if you already clicked the redeem link in your email then please:
    1. After you finish shopping click the "checkout" button
    2. Go to the gift certificate section and look to the right side and enter how much of your gift certificate you wish to use for this order, in the box provided.
    3.Then click "continue checkout"
    Any remaining amount left of your gift certificate will remain in your account as a balance for future use.

    Thank you.

    The Gift Certificate is worth $5.00
    $GV_AMOUNT
    To redeem this Gift Certificate, please click on the link below. Please also write down the Redemption Code which is xmxmxmxm in case you have any problems.
    Click here to redeem or visit Fantasies Realm Market and enter the code during the checkout process

    ========================

    as you can see it is still in there but then I got the actual email for the gc and this is all that it says...notice the differences? No salutation nor any of the edited part of the email.

    I wish i cold delete the post I make...but anyway I fixed it. seems that I did do the change you suggested but just thinking and doing it does not upload it to the server...lol it has been a rough weekend. thanks it worked...I added the wording to both files and tested and the coding is gone and the wording is there...it just does not like salutations.

    even if it looks like it should be showing, it is not.

    So, for the e-mail notification that is sent to a customer when they receive a Gift Certificate, whether through admin or as a gift from someone else, I edit the email_template_gv_mail.html file? I have done that and there is no change...help? And I even uploaded the new file! Confirmed it by downloading it on a different machine to double check. I still see this:

    hi DDK,

    I had to edit 2 files to get it to work, unfortunately I am still not happy because it is a "canned" response type of thing...I enjoy the personal touch when sending a voucher.

    You can edit it to your liking like I did but -- if sending to a customer that is registered it has the salutation (rather their name) but to send to a potential customer that is not registered yet there is no way I found to get the Dear... to show up, even though I have it in the editing, I add the name in the actual email and it does not show...nor any personal touch either.

    files I edited:

    admin folder/includes/languages/english/gv_mail.php

    email folder/email_template_gv_mail.html

    in the second one just enter your wording into the "content section"

    I have edited the email/email_template_gv_mail.html and it makes no difference...color me confused! Here's what mine contains now:

    HTML Code:
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=$CHARSET" />
    <base href="$BASE_HREF" />

    <style type="text/css">
    body {background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-align:center;}
    a:link {color:#0066cc;}

    a:visited {color:#0066cc;}
    .holder {background-color:#f9f9f9; border:1px solid #9a9a9a; font-size:9px; text-align:left; width:550px;}

    but my message doesn't look any different...help?
