Quantity not updating

I am trying to setup zen cart for downloads with a qty of 1. I want the qty to drop to 0 and be removed when some one purchases it. The qty never changes. Is it because I am purchasing it with the test credit card number or do I have something configured wrong? If it could be something configured wrong. What should I look at?

Yes the download seems to be working correctly. if you purchase it. you get an email with the link. once you set the order to shipped you get another email with the link. that link has the download button. It is set to 5 downloads. Even if you download it 5 times the qty still says 1?

I created a new site for a test. I followed the instructions on http://www.imakewebsites.ca/zen-cart...able-products/ to make the option downloadable. You can download it and everything works fine. the thing that does not change is the qty. I want to only sell 1 of this item. doe anyone know if you can do this? I have a test non downloadable product and it reduces qty by 1 every sale like you would expect.

What value is set for Configuration->Attribute Settings->Number of Downloads Allowed - Per Product? I think the default is 5.

When you say "Even if you download it 5 times the qty still says 1", on what page does the qty still 'say' this?

the max download is set to 1. what I mean is if I log in and purchase it 5 times it still says qty of 1. Does any know if the QTY just does not reduce on downloadable products?

My goal is to only sell 1 of each item. The items are downloadable content. once downloaded I want the qty to change from 1 to 0 and remove itself from the site. Can this be done?

Right, but what billgod is saying is that if the maximum download count is set to 1 and the customer (for some reason) chooses to purchase 5 downloads in a single order ... there is only 1 download available to the customer instead of 5.

Downloads are controlled by the Download setting of Maximum number of downloads and maximum count ...

The quantity on a Download does not increase the Maximum number of downloads ...

You could re-write the code to try to account for this, but I am not coming up with an reason for purchasing multiple downloads of the same Product that wouldn't require customization to the code to warrant changing the core code, at this time ...

There are scenarios where the Download is used for other things that licenses etc. would need more elaborate schemes to this, but again, that leads to customized code on a per site basis ...

We will keep this in mind, for the multitude of scenarios that a Download Product can be used ...
