    help question Unable to add new categories

    Something has come up on my site. I am unable to create new categories in any location, in any of the other categories or Root.
    I really can’t understand why, everything was working fine for me until today.
    There have been no changes, no updates, and no hierarchical changes in my site at all. (I have not moved, deleted or changed any of the current categories.)
    I sell garden and horticulture items, and I am trying to add in the newest items that I have access to now.
    I would like to add to the following location: Categories / Products - Hard Goods.
    And add items such as Arborist Supplies, Water Management, Pruning, etc.
    When I attempt to add these new categories, I am prompted for all of the pertinent information to fill out (Category Name, Categories Description, Category Image, Upload to directory, etc., etc.) I then click Save, and it kicks me to the …//index.php page; without ever creating the new category.
    I have attempted to create temp categories to see if I can in numerous other current categories that have no products in them, however, I am unable to do so anywhere on the entire tree.
    When attempting to create the new category, the link to the save button is: …//admin/categories.php?cPath=18&action=new_category
    I am running Zen Cart v1.3.8a/v1.3.8 on Windows Server 2003 SP2; more than enough disk storage space, RAM, and processing power is available for me to use.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Correction. You didn't notice any problems until today.

    When was the last time that you were able to add new categories?

    I beg to differ. *Something* has changed between the time you last added a category, and you noticing the problem.

    I had a similar experience a month or so ago. The site had had the June 09 security patch installed, and all appeared ok, until the customer tried to add a new category, a month or so later. It turned out that one of the patch files didn't get installed.

    So, based on this experience you could be looking at the same thing.

    So, pretend that I am an idiot with designing, maintaining and everything else with a website, what would one do in my situation?

    Try to install the latest Security Patch again and make sure all files are in the correct position. Thats a first attempt. Hope it is successful.
