Flat Rate Shipping to Canada: Tutorial?

I've been going through the various tutorials and FAQ's and I'm still a bit lost. I currently have it on my clients' site (http://www.granolagourmet.com/store/) only one form of shipping. Flat Rate USPS shipping for $4.95. Now he wants to start shipping to Canada. Also flat rate but much higher. I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it. Do I need to enable Zones? Or is there a better approach using one of the modules. Sorry for the NooB question but the FAQ's just aren't really giving me the proper answer.

You can use the Zone Rate zones shipping module and define your Zones by Country and set a "flat rate" by setting the shipping charge as:
4.95:10000

Or, you can clone the Flat Rate flat shipping module and create specific Zones for each copy ...

OK, I think I did it right. Just need some confirmation. I set the Calculation method to Price, the Zone 1 countries to CA for Canada and the Zone 1 Shipping Table to 4.95:10000. Was this right?

That should be correct ... did you test it out?

It's not working. It's coming out as 10,000 dollars. Not 30. I'm also getting four different USPS rates which I believe I set up previously when I first created the site.

Dyslexic ... try using:
10000:4.95

I do not know what shipping modules you have setup and how they are configured to really tell you about the USPS ...

Do make sure that you have the correct USPS shipping module that is also posted with the Security Patches:
