    Default email stopped working after 2 years...

    Zen Cart 1.3.5

    I have been using this zen-cart for quite some time now and in the last two months I have been getting email errors that are very random.

    When somebody tries to make a new account, submit an order, or even when I try to email a customer through the admin section... I get a blank page that says nothing but "Email Error: "

    When I view the source on the blank email error page I get...

    I do not get any error code as to why this happens.

    Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Today It is really bad but over the weekend it was fine.

    I can send and receive e-mails all day I only get errors through zen-cart. I have not changed any setting in a very very long time or updated/upgraded anything.

    Please help.

    Seems like whatever server does the actual mail delivery isn't responding properly when Zen Cart attempts to connect to it to hand off the email it wants to send.
    Best to log the matter with whoever runs the mailserver you're using. That's usually your hosting company unless you've set your Zen Cart to use SMTP or SMTPAUTH modes for sending email, in which case the Email Host/Server address is the server that's having problems.

    ok I got into the error log file .

    I tested doing the Tell a Friend and when I clicked submit it goes to the blank white page with Email Error:

    That has nothing to do with email issues, although you might want to put the missing image file back onto your server to stop those errors from appearing in the logs.

    Ahh ok I see what you mean. Everytime I get an email error page it puts a log that the page it was supposed to go right back to as not existing.

    they claim not to have found anything in any email log and my ticket was "escalated"

    I will post updates when i get them.

    FIXED

    Apparently my host had been having a firewall problem for the last few months which would explain the randomness of the issue but this morning they got a new firewall and had not yet added my name to the accepted list.

    so if you ever get a blank page with "Email Error" its your host.
