my question is:
I have Google checkout, and FEC loaded, should intgrate PHPbb3 into my site, as to allow a user to create one username and password for the forum and cart.. or should I leave the forum independant?

Thats is up to you. If you integrate it with Zencart, a forum account will be create for all customers on sign-up. But that doesnt mean that others cannot create a new forum account.
