Here is the problem:

both config files have been set to having ssl as true, the url for ssl has been set to https://

if we change our bookmarks to https it will go to the secure section correctly but then we click the links and they are rverted to the http

the host says that the SSL is active (it says so in the control panel) and that we have to go into all the files and change every instance of http to https

is that what we need to do, I know my host said I had to do that for the images

in config files there is the place to set the regular url to http would it hurt anything to set both the secure and regular url to https?

that will take you to the splash page of the store then clicking home or anyother link in the menu will send you to the http part....no warning of leaving a secured area.
