Default How to change 1 attribute for several categories?

I'm running ZC 1.3.8 and have set up lots of products with attributes i.e. 1oz, 2oz, 3oz and their respective weights. I need to change the weight for the 1oz and the 2oz bottles in several categories. Is there a way to copy just ONE atttribute across a whole category and leave everthing else in place? Prices are different for example so I don't won't those to get wiped out or changed to a new price.

I looked at the three options available in the attribute manager under "How should existing product attributes be handled?" and I can't find any of these options to do that. I tried this once and it basically changed all the prices, even though I only wanted the weight to change....

    thank you

I'm suprised no one has answered this, I'm a complete newb and I think I can help because I did it for one of my categories.

I created a product category called "Attributes" and made it hidden. I then created a pretend product and called it whatever. Then added a single attribute to that product (the one I wanted to copy to my whole category) Then used the attribute controller for that pretend product, then selected the "Copy to Category" option, there's three different ways.

    - Delete first, then copy new attributes
    - Update with new settings/prices, then add new ones
    - Ignore and add only new attributes

I used the last one to ignore all existing attributes in that category and just add my new attribute to all the products. Make sure you don't use the other two if you want to keep the attributes intact.

There is probably an easier way to do this, but I've found this hidden folder useful, I've created all sorts of "Sets" of attributes for copying over mainly to new products etc etc. Each product is names according to the attributes in it so I can continually refer back to them.
