    help question Wrong password

I just completed the installation. It appears everything went OK. now I am trying to log into the admin section, and it tells me I have wrong ID/password. I'm sure I have it right, but I asked for the password anyway. now I get an email failure mesesage at the email I installed during installation. I sent myself an email at that address and it came thorough instantly.

How do I get out of this dead end?

One more question - relating to memory - mine. I posted a question a while ago, and I forgot which forum I posted it too [early onset dementia]. Is there a way to view all of my postings?

I just took a look at the file admin/login.php.
There does not appear to be anything there that I might have inserted [thinking there is a typing error]. I do see reference to ID as "admin", and password as "password". I am not proficient with "C", so I am not certain, but possibly the ID and password did not "take"?

I found that I was able to reset the password. Now, that is absolutely correct. It's the user name that must be wrong. Either I mistyped it, or the program "burped" at the moment I saved it. The question now is how do I reset the user name, not knowing what it is now.

I tried the SQL, but I was unclear on what to change. Trying to run the SQL, I got an error message, which I failed to record. I went into the database itself, and changed the user_name and user_pass to the values I wanted. I still get "wrong password"
The database is decgeo_zen-cart. Can you explain a bit more about what in the suggested SQL I need to change to correct the database?
I am very new at this, and struggling at each step.

ok, I've tried everything I could find in past threads. nothing has helped. Short of taking everything off the server, and starting over, Can anyone help a non-HTML, non-php person? I am reluctant to erase and start over because I don't know what caused this in the first place. I have tried every possible misspelling I could have made, and nothing gets me into the admin.
PLEASE help, I am at my wits end!
    thank you

WHen you read the tutorial, you can login into the admin with

    Username: Admin
    Password: admin

The password is encrypted and you cannot change it to the values you like in the SQL. Change the password when you are able to login the admin when the user interface.

I am afraid, its hard to help when you dont understand the very easy to follow tutorial.

Sadly, the "very easy to follow tutorial" is wrong. I CAN'T log in with Admin/admin. I suspect the database was corrupted during install, or something to that effect. So now what do I do? Maybe time to give up on Zen-Cart?

Yes, click on your name/id that is showing at the top of the pages when logged in, or, on the sidebar of any message that you have posted.

    Cheers
