Is it possible to password site so it can only be accesses by pre-approved customers?

Hi All,

The title is pretty much the question. Can I customize a site so that it requires customers to have a pre-approved account somehow to access the site? Basic issue is that I need to set up a wholesale site and restrict it to access by customers that are verified and approved as wholesale approved.

Any feedback or expirence with this sort of set up?

Do you want the public to be able to see the site at all? If not, Admin - Configuration - Customer Details - Customer Shop Status set to 1

You can comment out the 'create account' stuff and just have the login - you'll have to create the accounts yourself.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'd like for them to be able to see it I think, if possible. Just not access it for shopping abilities unless they are approved or given a special sign in.

thanks! I may have to go this way if not other option is possible. if this is the way I go, how will it enable anyone to see the site ever?

It is perfectly possible from within the admin settings to allow anyone to see the products on a site BUT not see prices unless the are registered and approved to do so. Following on from what Stevesh said, these would be the settings to view but nothing else:

Admin - Configuration - Customer Details - Customer Shop Status set to 2

Admin - Configuration - Customer Approval Status - Authorization Pending set to 2
