Default UPS shipping module calculating half again for multiple boxes

My UPS shipping module is calculating half again the price it should be for products that should simply be being shipped in separate packages.

    Example:

1 kit should ship at $40 UPS Ground to NY
2 kits should ship at $80 UPS Ground to NY
    but instead...
1 kit is saying $40 UPS Ground to NY
2 kits is saying $120 UPS Ground to NY

At the moment, to have the UPS module register that these two items need to go in separate boxes, I have my maximum weight per box set at 40lb, with each kit weighing 21lb a piece - which automatically should force the module to separate (in the event people buy multiple kits) into their own boxes. But, why the horrendous overprice on the shipping?

If anyone has any insight into this, it would be most helpful!

    Thank you!

    Regards,

    ~Rachel

Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight
    2:0
This is adding 2% to the orders on small packages (total order to 40lbs)

Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight
    5:10
This is adding 5% plus 10lbs to each box (total order over 40 lbs)

So the 2 21 packages are getting a lot added on to them because the weight exceeded the Maximum of 40lbs ...

First, set the Large Package to 0:0 and just see what the affect is to this ...

Next you have 4% on the shipping module, unless you customized the module, it doesn't know 4% and is adding 4 ...

Alright, did that - it seems to be working much nicer now. =)

So, are you saying it just adds on $4.00 to each package?

Most likely, it is not designer for a Percentage on Handling ...

You would have to customize the code to treat the Handling as a percentage if that is what you want to do ...

You also need to decide is the percentage based on the Shipping Cost plus a percentage of that? Or is it a percentage of the order total?

We only derive the handling percentage from the shipping total. For now a flat fee will work, but it would be nice to have a percentage.

If I was better with php coding, I might attempt the change myself, but I wouldn't really know where to even start that kind of a change, or how many files it would take changing to have it take effect.

Thank you for your help, and if you have any insights on the handling fee as a percentage, then I'd love to know.
