I have a linen rental zencart store. (http://www.kennedycouture.com). I require my customers to pay 50% of their order at booking as a deposit and the balance when their order ships. I have figured out a work around for only taking 50% of their payment as oppose to billing them 100% by using the groups feature.
What I have done is created a group titled "Deposit" so everyone's order is marked down 50% and I collect the deposit that way. I have now run into a big problem as I can't figure out how to automatically add all my customers to that group automatically when they sign up.
I thought about using the site wide sale feature however I don't like the original price being crossed out with the sale price or in my case "deposit" amount next to it.
Is there anyway to automatically add customers to a group when they sign up so I wont have to do it manually or can someone suggest a better idea?
I use Authorize.net as my payment gateway and don't want to authorize 100% of the funds upfront.
