Per unit shipping help please.

Was wondering if anyone could help. I run zen 1.3.8. Haven't installed any addons yet until I get the zen basics down. I've been looking around and finding that I'm not alone in this problem but none of the solutions I've found are helpful in my case. I need to customize my per unit shipping cost. Some people are saying that it can't be done and some are simply telling other people to download modules. I've used this tutorial from zen: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...no&article=208

These are my results: One, in step 3, it instructs to turn off the weight in Admin->Configuration->index listing. The problem with this is that there is no weight option in this category at all. Two, the tutorial states that the weight input field for the product will become the shipping cost. However I've tried entering this weight/shipping cost in and when I go to my cart the weight still displays even though I've turned every weight display off and it doesn't add the additional shipping price. The only conclusion I can come to is that the tutorial is either outdated, doesn't provide a complete listing of the weight turn off keys and/or the tutorial is incomplete and wrong.

Does anyone know about this? I'm baffled at how difficult a process this is to set individual shipping prices. It's not like this is an uncommon practice with stores that ship different classes of products.

It might be easier to peek at a URL to your site to see where you have not turned off something related to the weight display ...

That's the other part of the problem, I've gone through and turned off every weight display option. And I've enabled the per unit module that's supposed to transform the weight into shipping cost, but it's not doing it. Instead of displaying the shipping cost or adding it in to the total price, it's displaying the weight--as though changing the status of the module had no effect on the weight/shipping formula.

If the only Shipping Module installed is the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module, then this is based on the contents of the Product Weight products_weight in the database table for products ...

If you have set the Maximum Weight shipped to 5000 and the Tare Rates to 0:0 then this should calculate the shipping based on the products_weight as if this were the shipping cost per product x quantity ordered ...
