Copy Zencart to another domain?

Hi

I'm trying to copy zencart from one sub domain to another (so I can set one up as a gallery only but want to keep the mods on the original)

I'd like to have two separate admin areas/ passwords for each install so can anybody point me in the right direction?

Can i just copy the original across and change the admin name and password for the copy?

There will definitely need to be separate databases if different admin settings are to apply on the "two" sites.

If one database is "shared", any admin settings changed on one site will reflect in BOTH sites.

Exactly why I asked. I was going to suggest Admin Profiles, but the changes will still effect both sites.

I'll be looking after both sites so it doesnt matter about the set up just as long as customers can only buy from one of the sites.

I set up a test shop and tried to just copy all the files over to a subdomain but I think i just ended up with one shop in two places... so i deleted them both.


I dont know anything about programming etc so please keep it simple for this fool

You can share the database, but keep in mind that you'll only have one admin area and any changes made in the admin will effect both sites.

if i only have one database does that mean i cant have one as a normal webshop and the other as a showcase gallery?

Yes, since that's an admin setting. If they share a database, both shops have to be either a normal web shop or a showcase. You can't have one of each.
