Sage - Virtual Terminal

I have created a website and want to sell one downloadable software product. The Merchant I am planning on using uses Sage. The rep there told me I should use their Virtual terminal. The credit card info would be entered on their site and I wouldn't need a SSL. I downloaded the net1.php, but I am confused. Can this be used? I want to go to the Merchant site, and if a good return code download my software. The net1 payment option uses a credit card #. Help! I am using Version 1.3.8a. I am new to all of this. The Merchant is Processing Point.

I'm not sure where you are in the world, but if what you want is a payment option that takes your customers offsite, wouldn't Paypal (which is already integrated into Zencart) be a better option?

Many here would disagree that you won't need an SSL certificate using this sort of payment processor. You're still collecting personal information.

Thanks for the reply. This is all new to me and I read bad things about Paypal. I thought all personal info would be entered at the merhant site. They told me I wouldn't need a SSL. Now I am thinking about paying the extra expense for the SSL.
