i saw a shopping cart where it allows the buyer to put something on hold...it's really a cool feature.
i searched around zen cart and could not find anything close to that...
any such addon or link?

Not in the stock code. It would probably require some custom coding. What happens after something is put on hold?

If the customer has made an account their cart is saved.
You could probably rewrite some of the text to make this appear that its actually "on hold"
(You could not use this if you have limited stock or one off items)
